Author Bo Bancroft

An Ohioan by birth, Bo spent his early years during an era of ‘free range’ child-rearing, enjoying countless adventures on Lake Erie, canoeing on Ohio’s many rivers, and skiing in western New York. Even to this day, on sunny summer afternoons, he thinks his time would be better spent playing Wiffle ball.

Bo graduated from Miami University with a degree in Marketing and a relationship with his future bride. After meandering the country with extended stints in Oklahoma, Hawaii, California, and South Carolina, he visited a friend in Atlanta and, 40 years later, still hasn’t left his adopted city. He and his wife, Aree, live near Decatur.

Bo likes to think he’s bookended his career with his two best jobs – performing as either a dancing bear or elephant at Disneyland to working for Habitat. Following his last costumed steps, he spent years in sales at cable networks and later, in the telecommunications industry.

Recently, Bo has had the privilege to work for Habitat for Humanity International, finding the shift from the corporate sector to non-profit exhilarating. Affordable Housing is a global crisis, and Habitat’s approach to helping hard-working, lower-paid people realize the dream of home ownership is extremely rewarding.

His family and friends remain the most important part of his life. Through joys and achievements, chronic illness and death, this eclectic crew keeps his mind sharp and spirits up, providing the best balance life can offer.

Bo is a voracious reader and rabid baseball fan who still participates in a variety of sports when his body cooperates. During early weekday morning hours, Bo takes his daily five mile walk with his black lab, Lula. On most weekends, the duo heads north for a long hike on one of the many Georgia Mountain trails.
